Hi, I’m Oli.

A penultimate-year AUT student building practical, secure systems — and pouring drinks on the side.

01 — About

A quiet practitioner, not a poser.

I’m studying Cybersecurity and Networks at AUT, expected to graduate in 2027 with a GPA of 7.37 / 9.0. Most of my learning happens outside the classroom — in a homelab, on a service shift, in code.

What I care about: authentication done right, networks that don’t leak, Linux that doesn’t fall over, and infrastructure you can hand to the next person without a sigh. Calm execution under pressure — whether a Pi is misbehaving or the bar is six deep on a Saturday night.

Education

BCIS, Cybersecurity & Networks

Auckland University of Technology — expected 2027. GPA 7.37 / 9.0.

Currently

Bartender at Shed 16

Service, teamwork, and consistency under pressure. Sharpens everything technical work doesn’t.

Technical focus

Auth · Networks · Linux · Infra

OAuth and RBAC, Tailscale meshes, Pi-hole DNS, Docker services, and operating things long enough to learn how they break.

Off the clock

800+ hours of community service

St John Youth and Student Volunteer Army. Grand Prior’s Award for leadership and contribution.

02 — Selected work

Things I’ve built & shipped.

A few practical builds across security, networking, and infrastructure — production code, real users, and the long tail of running something yourself.

03 — An aside

Service, craft, & a feijoa.

I think the bar taught me as much as the lab.

Bartending built the muscles security work asks for too — consistency, calm under pressure, and the discipline of doing a small thing well every single time. Plus, sometimes you just want a good drink. So here’s mine.

Oli’s Feijoa Tom Collins

Feijoa-forward, bright citrus, and an NZ gin backbone. A late-summer drink that tastes like an Auckland backyard.

Pour
  • 45 ml NZ gin
  • 30 ml feijoa puree (or cordial)
  • 20 ml fresh lemon juice
  • 15 ml sugar syrup (1:1)
  • Soda water, to top
Method
  1. Shake gin, feijoa, lemon, and syrup hard with ice.
  2. Strain into a tall glass over fresh ice.
  3. Top with soda and stir once, gently.
  4. Garnish with a lemon wheel. Serve to someone you like.
04 — Contact

Open to cybersecurity internship, graduate, and junior opportunities — especially anything touching auth, networking, or infrastructure. Auckland-based, but happy to talk to anyone.

Let’s build something.
